Awards for the work of The Making Connections Unit
- The Making Connections Unit has won an award in the Global Bangemann Challenge; a challenge by the City of Stockholm for cities of the world to show their finest information technology projects. Approximately 900 projects where put forward by cities worldwide. The MCU received and award as finalist in the 'Equal Access to Networking' category.

The Making Connections Unit reached the bronze award stage of the COSLA Excellence Awards for a Feasibility Study into development of a learning disability web site.
- In June 2001 the Director of The Making Connections Unit Jim Byrne was identified as one of Scotland's 'movers and shakers in e-commerce in Scotland' for his work in the area of Web accessibility (NB Magazine, June, 2001).
